The protest is against the mass sack of bankers in the financial sector and the ban on street trading in lagos

The civil societies in conjunction with the Nigerian Labour Congress were protesting in front of NECA building in Alausa Lagos when the hoodlums numbering about fifty stormed the area brandishing weapons.

Protesters tried to scuttle to safety although some were beaten with planks. SOme persons were also stabbed with knives and bottles.

It is suspected that the hoodlums are from Fela's shrine. The police are on ground but it seems they are overwhelmed by the huge number of hoodlums.

The Lagos State Taskforce on Environment and Special Offences, commenced a total enforcement on street trading across the state as directed by the governor on Monday, July 4, following the order by Governor Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos state on a total clamp.

Governor Ambode who was a guest on Your-View talk show on TV Continental on Friday, July 1, had stated that buyers and sellers transacting business along the road will be fined N90,000 or face 6 months jail term.
